What can cause sore lymph nodes in neck?

I’ve noticed for the past 2 days, the lymph node on the right side of my neck is really sore.. especially whenever I move my neck. I got my mother in law to feel them, and she goes “oh my god, they’re HUGE!”. What can cause this? Do I need to be seen or is it something I let pass?

Typically means your body is fighting off some sort of an infection or virus. Nothing too concerning unless you start to get severe symptoms of some sort..

It could mean you have some sort of infection. Or it could be nothing at all. I say that because I’ve had huge swollen lymph nodes in my neck for three years now and I’ve had ultrasounds and MRIs of my lymph nodes and my thyroid ￼and there is nothing causing it. My doctor asked me if I work out a lot because apparently people who work out a lot get inflamed lymph nodes. Didn’t know that! But no I don’t work out a lot… So WTF. No doctor is concerned for me at all 🤷‍♀️
