Not sure what to do

I want to leave my husband but I’m a SAHM and we have a 6 month old son. I want a divorce but don’t want to leave without my son or dog. Do I get a job and save up money for the time being? Idk what to do.

Edit: he’s verbally abusive. My mom told me I always have a place to stay but I would like to get my own place. Maybe choose the option with my mom and save up for my own place.
