Am I in the wrong? Child endangerment?
Yesterday I was driving down the turnpike back from Philly, the turnpike speed is 70mph but everyone goes about 80- even 90mph. There was already about 5 accidents on the way there and one on the way back because of a super congested area. Well when I was driving I see a BABY out of her car seat standing up on the mom/sisters lap and climbing around on the seats! I looked at the mom/sister in the back and point to the car seat and mouthed put your baby in her car seat. I was so upset because of how dangerous the situation could be if they got into an accident. Well I gave them about another 5-8 miles and I passed them again and the baby was still out of her car seat. So I decided to call the highway patrol because I would feel so guilty if something happened and I didn't do my part. I gave them the cars information and why I called. After that there's nothing I can do about it. Now I understand that babies cry and get uncomfortable in their car seats especially during long trips but there were plenty of rest stops to take a break with the child. Well I called my husband to talk to him about it, he was so upset that I called the police and told me I don't have to be a hero or get into other people's business. I hung up on him because I was so hurt especially since we have 3 girls ourselfs we know the dangers of when a child is not restrained correctly in a car seat. Should I have not called the police??
