Queer bookstore

Lexie

I'm a young adult and I've been thinking these last few months about opening a queer bookstore. The bookstore will sell books with queer characters, queer authors, and queer merch such as shirts, bookmarks, tote bags, etc. The town I will be opening the bookstore in has a population of 26,319 and is currently growing at a rate of 1.34% annually. So it's not the biggest town but it is one of the biggest nearby. I don't know anything about opening and running a business so if you have any pointers or advice I would love to them. I probably won't be able to open it right away so if I do decide to do this then it probably won't be until a few years when I have more things figured out for it. My two main worries are 1.) After buying everything and getting the bookstore up and running, I don't have enough customers to actually make money so I'll have to close it. And, 2.) Since It'll be a queer bookstore I'm worried about it getting vandalized or a lot of hate from the public.

I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions about this idea!
