Anyone’s hubby taking paternity leave?

My husband gets 3 months paid paternity leave and can take it in different increments a year after the baby is born. He’s up in the air how to do it. Take it all at once? Or spread it out? How did your hubbies do it or plan to?

My partner only gets one week paid and is using the weeks worth of vacation days he has saved up so he can have 2 weeks when baby gets here. Totally unfair. The US needs to get it together when it comes to parental leave.

Mine gets 6 months paid (great benefits!) And he's going to take it right away when the baby is born. It's our first so he doesn't want to miss anything, and we both have no idea what we're getting ourselves into so  having both of us around to deal with it all is going to be a lifesaver!

Mine gets 12 weeks and has up to a year to take it. I get induced October 11th and he will take a week of his own personal leave immediately after. He’s going to wait to take his non-chargeable paternity leave starting in January so I can get my student teaching completed and can graduate without having to worry about childcare.

IF mt husband has leave. Which he doesn't, but if he did. 
What we would do is have home home for the first 2-3 weeks, and then use the rest of it after I am done mine. So that the baby is a little older before going to grandma

Had our 2nd in January and neither of us get paid leave..so we used our vacation week and week of sick pay. If you are going to do daycare in my opinion save some time for sure bc we have delt with COVID exposure and being closed and just regular sickness and needed to find back up care but if none of that is an issue just take it in the beginning

My husband gets four months paid and it's the same deal as you, take it all at once or break it up. We decided to do 8 weeks at once, starting two weeks before my due date because I get prodromal labor, and then the remainder he'll break up in 2 week increments around the big growth spurts/sleep regressions so he can help with our two older kids while I clusterfeed.

Mine gets 12 weeks but it’s not full pay. He is planning to take 6 weeks then go back to work. My last day is in two weeks and I don’t plan to go back for awhile so he is cutting his paternity leave short. I’m just super thankful to even have him home for 6 weeks!

Wow, if he gets that much time he should take it all at once. The first few months are the hardest and if he could be home with you the whole time while getting paid he should totally do it! I would have LOVED if my husband was home the first 3 months. He was only allowed 2 week unpaid.
