Daycare struggles
So I posted about a sleep regression several weeks ago. Well he is back to sleeping through the night most nights, sometimes waking up at 5 for the day but otherwise not bad. I have asked daycare to no longer allow him to nap unless he’s had a rough night and I would let them know that morning. Well his behaviour has been out of control. So much so that he trashes rooms, throws chairs, runs away from the daycare ladies, basically needs someone to be with him full time. He is very smart but needs constant stimulation. They suggested moving him to the 4 year old room. So they did. But it isn’t going to work out because he can escape the room through a fire exit. They told me today they may need to hire more help for him. I am crushed. I feel like a failure. I’m a teacher - and I don’t know how I can help him.
A few things to note- there have been a lot of changes to his room the last month, including staff changes. He also went on holidays in august but we’ve been in a routine for several weeks now since I’m back to work.
Do your toddlers ever run away from you? Try to escape the house, etc? Is this normal behaviour at age 3? They have told me no other children are doing this.
My only options are to offer naps again, or put him in a special pre-k program. Otherwise, advice please 😞
