10 weeks pregnant and denied for Medicaid?

Applied for Medicaid and was recently denied because husband makes ‘too much’ we do however had 2 other kids as I was on my dads insurance and hubby’s job doesn’t allow me to get insurance with him until December. After applying for that I would have to wait until January. I would be 24 weeks. Looked into my own insurance and it is OUTRAGEOUS. More than we can afford. My first doctors visit I have scheduled on a few days they want money upfront. They have been refusing to tell me how much it would cost for the visit alone. She only had the number for the whole pregnancy, labor and all and didn’t tell me that neither because she didn’t have the info. Said she would call when I scheduled an appt a month ago and never called. My husband thinks I could just wait and not see anyone and we will schedule a private ultrasound at 20 weeks and roll with it. I’m not sure what to do. Have called planned parenthood and get stuck on a waiting line for an hour so feels pointless. Not even sure I know how planned parenthood works. Advice?

Prenatal care is very important.
Call around to other OBs and ask about out of pocket price and/or payment plans.
My OB did payment plans and gave costs up front for those that needed help. 
You can’t just go without prenatal care until 24w. Not only can they get CPS involved for medical neglect but some OBs won’t take you on as a patient if too late in pregnancy.

t’s important to get prenatal care as soon as possibly, your hubby is wrong to think you can just go weeks without seeing an OB. It’s risky.

Why haven’t you been added to your husband insurance before? I’d call and make sure you can’t get on until then. Also call Medicaid and explain you’re pregnant you can usually get it if you are pregnant, but I’d probably plan on paying out of pocket for awhile, you won’t have many visits, once a month until you’re 28-32 weeks so I wouldn’t worry about it. Your husband saying you shouldn’t go isn’t responsible at all. Prenatal care is very important.

Have you tried a health department? Usually they will do free or sliding scale payment. It might be a wait, but worth it if it's your only option. Definitely look into your local county. They should have one or two that you could visit. 
It stinks that you're not able to get Medicaid. If I wasn't approved for it I truly don't know what I would've done this pregnancy. My husband is the sole provider and we struggle some months as it is. I know how hard it is not being able to budget for something because you can't get a straight answer.
If anything, and I know some people may not agree with me, go to the ER and at least let them do an ultrasound for you just to make sure everything is okay with baby.

I’d just plan on a couple hundred for your visit.  That’s really annoying they cannot give you a dollar amount—I’ve been in a similar situation before with tests they wanted to run and told me they cannot give me a cost until after I’ve had them done, blah blah.  I only wanted a ballpark!!  Like, $300 or 3k?! Anyway… it’s annoying they can’t be upfront about costs, ugh.  But I don’t think it will be anything earth shattering 🙃 Congrats!

I'd call around and see if any clinics offer a sliding scale fee. Or if your community has a family planning center. Those aren't like seeing an OB within a clinic per say, but usually they have a midwife or an OB who volunteers their time to help those who need it. They usually give free ultrasounds as well.

Not sure what state you live and what services they offer but have you tried county hospitals or clinics? Yes they’ll have horrible waits and it’s always crowded but prenatal care is very important. Like the bloodwork that test for various things. You can try planned parenthood. They never answer the phone but I know you can book an appointment online or try other free clinics.
