Would Like Opinions

Kit

My child’s father is Nigerian so his family has certain traditions however im skeptical of some traditions being performed on my child. There will be nobody there on the day of the baby’s birth except me and him for my comfortability level but his mom said it’s tradition for her to give the baby their first bath, ultimately I told him I believe that’s something me and him should do as first time parents when he first brought it up and he completely agreed. She brought it up to me and I just said ok to get the conversation over with because she can be very adamant about our decisions (as she was with my child’s name) and it annoys me but I try not to be disrespectful but then I started thinking about it and I was completely fine with it because that is baby’s culture too. Today I looked up how exactly they give the babies the bath since i’m due in 2 weeks and quite frankly I don’t like it not one bit, I don’t like the molding of their face either and I wouldn’t be able to stand hearing my baby scream. I don’t want to disrespect their tradition but on the other hand I have different beliefs. How did you deal with having a child with somebody who had certain traditions? What if you did not agree with them? I just want to see your opinions or how you handled them.
