Normal behavior for one year old?
I’m 22 and a single mom with a one year old daughter💕 Because of financial reasons and going back to college to get my degree to better our future, we are currently living with my parents. Recently my daughter has been super attached to her grandaddy (my dad). If he’s in the room, 9/10 she’s crying, reaching for him to hold her. Every time I try to take her from him (diaper changes, bed time, etc) she turns and buries her head in his chest, sometime she will even cry for a few seconds.. at first it didn’t bother me because her dad isn’t in her life and I’m very thankful she has a great male figure from my dad, and I still am thankful she has him but it’s kinda breaking my mama heart to pieces that he’s her favorite “go to” person and I’m not. I already struggle with the fact that I work an 8-5 job so I only get to spend about 3 hours with her when I get home before bed time, but honestly my dad works swing shift so it’s not like he spends more time with her than I do so idk why she’s so attached to him lol. I realized he doesn’t do any of the “hard stuff” like getting her to sleep/changing diapers when she doesn’t want to, disciplining.. he pretty much caters to whatever she wants so maybe that? Or maybe because he’s really the only male figure in her life?
My family tries to reassure me that it’s normal behavior, toddlers are finicky and she’ll always know I’m her mama but are there any other moms out there that your kid had a favorite person other than you? Sincerely, an EXTREMELY emotional first time mama doing her best🥹
