Period and birth control

So,

I am on birth control and whenever I take my pill even an hour late my period starts. So last week I had my full period while still taking the hormone pill, and this week I was just an hour late taking my pill and have been spotting. My question is do I stop the hormone pill for this week and take my placebo (which I haven’t taken this month yet) or do it just keep taking the hormone pill as scheduled. I’ve been on the pill for nearly or over 6 months so breakthrough bleeding should have stopped by now. Please birth control experts I need help!
