ECV or not?

Question

FTM 38 weeks with a baby boy, and I have a ECV scheduled for next Monday with an induction/c-section to follow. A mommy of two told me today babies turn when they want and so I should just leave him alone because her baby was breech up until she had her at 40 weeks 6 days. 
Should I cancel the ECV and just wait for him to turn? Or is it a good thing to have this scheduled? My due date was 10/31 originally.
Sorry I should’ve explained: I’ll get a c-section if the ECV is unsuccessful. If it is successful I’ll get induced and have a vaginal birth. Either way I’ll have baby 10/24.

While babies can turn right up until (and even during!) labor, it is rare. It is especially rare if it is your first pregnancy, it is more common for babies to turn on their own if you’ve been pregnant before.
My first was transverse the whole pregnancy, then turned breech towards the end. I opted not to do ECV and had a scheduled CS. My second was transverse until 37-38 weeks, when he turned head down on his own and I had a successful VBAC.
This isn’t to discourage ECV, I think it’s a very good option overall, it just wasn’t the best option for me based on how I personally balance risks/benefits. I’ve just seen a lot of responses on here in the past talking about how babies can turn late in pregnancy, which is true, just rare.

I had an ECV and it was the worst pain of my life and was unsuccessful. The optimal position for an ecv is a transverse breech and success is dependent on several different factors. I ended up with a csection 2 weeks later. Id never go through it again

Hey did the ECV turn out successful ? or did baby turn on its own? or get a c section?
my baby’s currently breech and i’m scared to do ECV so going to get a c section scheduled but i’m doing exercises to help baby turn so hopefully it works 🤞🏽 i’m 37+4
