Those with toddlers aged 14-24 months- when up close does you child look more at your eyes or mouth when talking?

Question

Up close as in if they are in your lap facing you or you have them on the change table and you are close to them.
This might be a weird question but my 18m old son rarely makes eye contact when close up.

Answer

My son didn't start really talking until after 2. At that age he mostly would stare at my mouth when I spoke. He would study the way my mouth moves and then mimic it. He is the type of kid that won't attempt to do anything until he KNOWS and is confident he can do it. So he went from saying single words to full sentences. Every kid is different. I wouldn't worry about it especially if you are getting some eye contact.
