I am an ICU nurse that shares time between both our hospital locations. We are understaffed (like many places) and I helped out in urgent care triage yesterday we for a change had icu coverage fully and they needed help. In the 10 hrs I was on shift our urgent care has 67 kids brought in with rsv or respiratory issues...67 in just our hospital. Our picu and peds floors are fu right now. We see issues yearly but this year with kids between covid (yes it is still here and yes still causing issues), flu, bronchitis, bronchiolitis, rsv, and upper chest infections we are slammed with ped patients. If your kiddo is sick and having breathing issues or pains please get them seen sooner than later. I would also recommend a pulse ox this year at home just to be safe. I know some areas are worse than others but in my now 15 yrs of nursing have never seen it this bad especially this early. And I am just talking about kids in this post.
