Daycare pickup security
Hey! My mother had to pick up my kids from daycare today because we had an appointment at the bank and I called ahead to let them know her name and that she would be picking the kids up.
About 30 mins after pickup time, she texted me that I needed to call the daycare again because they would not let her pock up the kids.
A little annoying but I appreciate the concern. I called again, said “hey I called this morning letting yall know my mom was picking up the kids and she’s telling me she tried to but is unable to”.
The person on the phone, which I did not recognize, said “well it’s our policy that only the parents or legal guardian can pick up their kids”
I said “let me speak to Tanya (daycare owner) please” and so she did and I explained the situation and she was appalled and shocked because she knows my mom and it’s not the first time she picks up the kids and looked in the system and my mom’s name was indeed in the “can pick up child” list…
100% grateful that they do this to protect our babies but a little annoying when staff can’t do their jobs right…
What’s the protocol for this at your daycare? They have a list and also check ID every time. The door is also locked and only those who know the code can get in (an intercom at the door asking for a specific password that changes everytime, that they gave me when I called in the morning).
