Has anyone been able to breastfeed their second child after being unable to with their first?

I tried everything to breastfeed my first baby. I’m now pregnant and that was the first fear that came to my mind. I tried pumping double time, latching before pumping, the milk teas, the foods, the snacks, EVERYTHING. I think maybe it may have been stress that kept me from producing enough but I want to breastfeed so bad.

If tried everything with my first and developed terrible PPD over it. With my second, I decided I’d latch her for the colostrum at the beginning and if things weren’t better before we went home I wouldn’t bother. She was born and needed to be in the NICU for blood sugar issues and would NOT take a bottle for them. Eventually, she didn’t have a choice but I pumped what I could and sent it over (I was readmitted for HELLP syndrome and in the hospital myself.) She was supplemented with formula. We were home for a week and I got tired of cleaning the bottles and just kept latching, which is what she wanted anyway…and she was ebf after that until I forced her two wean at 2. It was the most natural thing the second time and the most impossible thing the first time. I say just go with the flow! (Pun intended.)

My milk came in with my first but went away within 24hrs despite how bad I wanted to breastfeed him. With my second though I made SOOO much milk  naturally and was able to EBF him.

Yes! I was unable to breastfeed my first and I tried everything. I was determined that I would be able to breastfeed my second no matter what, AND I DID! He latched right away in the hospital and he just weaned himself at 13 months. It was the most amazing thing experience and I’m so happy I never gave up. You can do it mama ❤️
