Recurring Yeast Infection
Hey everyone. So starting around June of this year, I felt like I was getting a UTI and a yeast infection. But I wasn't sure because the only sign of the UTI was a weird smell(something I was 100% about because my smelling has been off since I got C*vid the 1st time), and I was itching like heck down there. But only near the top.
So I took an at home UTI test, which was positive, so my Dr called in a script and a yeast infection script.
Well UTI went away, or so I thought because the smell came back within like 3weeks to a month? So July I was back at the doctors and while they could see a positive result at their office, when they sent it to a lab they said it was contaminated because they saw more than 3 bacteria. They sent off at least 3 other samples from me, all clean catch btw. And they all came back contaminated. So they treated with a different antibiotic.
It seems like the UTI isn't recurring at this point. But every 3 weeks to a month, sometimes even shorter, I start feeling itchy again near the top only. Definitely a yeast infection, this was confirmed by my Dr who saw the white yeast.
So I've had at least 3 or 4 rounds of the yeast infection meds, and at least 2 to 3 courses to treat BV.
Well wouldn't you know my period is in like 8 days so I started itching again, honestly at this point I'm not even sure the yeast infections are being treated completely and ever go away.
So I called in to get a script and an appointment with the head Dr at my practice but that won't be until January 5th.
The reason I'm here is to see if anyone else has had anything similar happen to them, and what it turned out to be. I'd like to go to my doctor with options/questions so I can be like well could it be A or B?
I know it's probably something to do with an unstable pH thrown off by my period or sex, but like nothing I've tried is working. And my husband has even started making sure to wash himself before even initiating sex.
I'm at my wits end, and highly uncomfortable to boot (not at the moment since the yeast infection meds seem to have worked for the moment, but I digress.)
