VBAC or Elective C-Section?

I have been asked to opt today. I have fibroid of 5cm, sugar in borderline and previous csection in September 2020. Today doctor mentioned I can opt for VBAC or C-Section, choice is upto to me. What do you ladies recommend based on your or your friends experience?

It is so very personal. I thought I wanted a TOLAC for my second child but then after multiple pregnancy losses, I couldn’t over fears of uterine rupture and losing the baby so I opted for csection.  I’ll be having my 3rd elective csection (first was breech) in 2 weeks. My friend had a VBAC with her second that went perfectly, then tried to have one with her third and everything went wrong. She had a rupture and she needed an emergency C-section which she said was scary and rough.

I went with the repeat but they are a breeze for me and I heal incredibly fast.

FTM here, so I don’t have any experience with either. However, I am having a c-section due to various reasons, and one of those reasons is that I have a 5 cm submucosal fibroid (we joke and call it baby girl’s cellmate). So when I have the c-section, I’m also having a myomectomy to remove the fibroid. Otherwise, if it stays, it will cause abnormal bleeding until it’s removed. I have a history of them, and I can say, they’re a serious pain in the ass until they’re removed. I’ll echo what others have said, and say that it’s a very personal choice. Whatever you choose, it’s the best choice for you and your baby.

I’ve had a vaginal birth and an emergency c section. I get the choice of a vbac or repeat c section this time and I’ve choose A c section. My reasons  are after having heart rate issues with my first and second baby, the second being a c section due to the heart rate dropping too low, and then getting sepsis after my first delivery, I just feel like it’s the safest option for both baby and I. My husband will back my choice no matter what but he has been vocal about wanting a c section this time due to issues in the past. I’ve said I wanted a c section before we ever got pregnant this time and I’m sticking to it. The only thing that could change is if I happen to go into labor on my own before my c section and I progress quickly, I would try for a vbac but I highly doubt that’ll happen. It’s your choice ultimately if your Dr is telling you to pick and I’d just go over the pros and cons of both and the risks involved with both. I personally had a much easier and quicker recovery with my c section then I did with my vaginal birth and I feel that some people like to scare others about c sections but it’s not that bad. Yes, it’s major surgery and you take longer to heal, but you feel pretty good after the first week or so it’s just your body needing to fully heal during the first 8 weeks and you have more limitations for what you can do during that time.

I definitely think it is situational and a very personal decision! I had an emergency c section with my first due to him being breech (and not knowing until it was time to push), and a VBAC with my second. This third little boy is also breech, and I’m praying he flips so I can have another vaginal birth. I am hoping to avoid a c section at all costs, as long as it is safe for baby and I. My c section was very difficult and traumatic, so I have a lot of fears surrounding the possibility of another c section.
