Can lip ties cause reflux in babies?

I just realized my 2 month old baby has a pretty profound upper lip tie. It makes breastfeeding incredibly painful and it’s hard for her to latch on to me. Bottles are a bit easier. She has been having a lot of reflux lately and i am starting to wonder if the lip tie can cause or make reflux worse?

It can contribute to reflux because they end up swallowing so much air. Although reflux isn't uncommon unfortunately for little ones. If it helps at all, my son had a tongue tie and I used a nipple shield and it helped quite a bit.

Yes you need to see a dentist to have the tie revised. We did not have my sons fixed and it caused him to spit up a lot to the point where he was not gaining weight even though he was mostly bottle fed and it caused me to get very painful milk blisters which caused clogged ducts.

See a peds dentist. I was told with my second daughter she had a ￼tongue tie after she was born, I brought up concerns to Dr, and researched a lot about it. Dr didn’t see concern for taking care of it. Breast feeding was painful, and weight gain was very very slow. Went to peds dentist, she also had lip tie and both were rated at a 4 being the worse. Had both lasered same day, weight gain and breast feeding improved! (Done at 6 months old, now 13 months and catching up in weight to where she should be for age).
