Should I be annoyed

With partner 6years. Over that time we only had little conversation about past relationships. I always made it clear that I had never had any man around my child no one serious enough to introduce to my child. I also stated I had dated. He would say I don’t want to know, so no details or discussion ever progressed

I met him through his brother. His brother use to date my friend that’s how I know him and was introduced to my partner

Today out the blue my partner rang me and asked some odd questions. How long you known my brother how many men you been with since knowing him?

I answered truthfully stated two men over the 16 years I had known him. My partner then asks when was the last time you was with a man before you met me, again I was truthful and stated over 2years.

I ask why all the questions. He stated I just been told something about you and I’m fuming you made me look like a fool telling me you hadn’t been with anyone since you had your child. I reminded him : stating no I had told you I’ve dated since I had her but never had anyone serious enough around her. He is adamant I never told him this! I then ask why what was said about me and why is your brother discussing me etc

He then ask how many men you had sex with (I said a total of 5 including him) (yes this was a lie but I don’t believe he needs to know my body count- it ain’t far from that number) but now I’m feeling pissed off.

He now won’t tell me what was said and states “forget it I don’t even care anyway”

Which I found rude so said I will call his brother and ask him direct to explain. To which my partner spas out about.

I’m at a loss here. I feel mad but should I be? I’m so confused right now. Keeping in mind we are both in our early 40s with a child together. What kind of nonsense is this?
