My mom and I are on vacation at the beach. Everything we want to do is far away from each other and she has the idea of taking public transportation / the county bus to save money instead of getting a rental car. We have to keep waiting forever (20-30 minutes) each time we have to take the bus. And when we are on the bus, it’s super dangerous with a lot of people on drugs/ talking loudly to themselves. Would you be okay with taking public transportation (county bus system that people who live here use) on vacation?

30 minutes? That is standard for us and I live in a capital city in a well to do country. I get not being comfortable but it likely isn't as dangerous as you think.

I would be okay with it. I’ve taken the bus with my child when our car was totaled. Drugged up people. Old people saying God is coming and hates us all. I’m in DC area I’ve seen a lot worse baby.

It depends on the place I’m at, but the public bus system in my city pays off duty cops to ride the bus for extra security because it’s so bad

Kinda, but if it’s a problem to you why do you just rent a car?

Yeah, I'd be fine with that. Driving your own car is definitely faster, but you can plan things so that you aren't waiting so long.

This depends where you are. I always take public transportation on vacation but the infrastructure where I travel is often stellar (I travel mostly in Europe as I live here now) and way cheaper than Uber-ing around.
