What are the first essential things you need to buy? This is my first and I don’t even know where to start! :) :)

I wondered the same thing with my babe and haven’t found a good succinct list. There are so many thugs I wish would have been on my registry that I didn’t even know about. These are what I used most in the first few months. I did breastfeed via exclusive pumping so some of these may not apply. 
FridaBaby products- nose picker, snot sucker, Saline drops/spray. Also used the baby essentials kit (nail stuff mostly) and the sickness kit later when he caught a cold. Love their line
Little Remedies Saline Drops 
Vitamin D Drops- talk to your doc. Will need to supplement if breastfeeding. Sometimes with formula as well but it's under a certain oz per day and this varies across the board.
Bottles, binkies
Munchkin sanitizing bags 
Sleep sacks- we use Halo and Kyte
Clothes- we bought 95% from a consignment store. I do recommend getting preemie sizes too. My LO didn't hit NB until 8-9 weeks old. 
Obviously diapers and wipes
Aquaphor, especially if you're having a boy and having a circumcision performed
Burp cloths and receiving blankets
Sound machine 
Humidifier- may not need this but my environment called for it
Baby wrap carrier
Infant bath seat + normal bath stuff
Carseat
Diaper bag
Things I didn't need but came in handy: boppy pillow, pack n play, diaper caddy, bouncer seat, mini fridge (kept my overnight bottles and pumping stuff upstairs in our room)
I'm sure there's more but that's all I can remember right now lol
