Would you switch hospitals?

My OB told me today at my 37 week appointment that the hospital I was planning to deliver at isn’t very supportive of VBACS and will probably try to “pressure me into a csection” (I’m not sure why she waited until now to tell me the hospital/staff are not supportive of the labor/delivery I was planning..)
Anyway, she said the other hospital in the area is supportive of vbacs/ natural labor however my OB doesn’t do deliveries at this other hospital and I’m not familiar with the labor/delivery unit there.
Would you make the switch to deliver at the other hospital in the area to hopefully have more supportive staff or would you stay at current hospital and be your own advocate in the midst of labor when they try to pressure you out of your natural birth plan?

I would stay!! If your OB knows your birth plan and she’s the one that’s be delivering your baby, no one else makes those decisions. A nurse isn’t going to perform a C-section, and if she’s your OB delivering your baby why would the other OB staff practices matter?

I switched where I’ll be delivering this time around at 32 weeks (35 weeks now). I found out from my doula that the hospital I was going to be delivering at wasn’t very supportive of natural labor/birth and most births she attends there end up having interventions that aren’t medically necessary (which was my experience with my first birth at a different hospital and is what I’m attempting to avoid this time). I’ve had 2 appointments with the new practice and I’m SO glad I switched. Birth is such a vulnerable time, I’d personally rather have a supportive stranger in the room vs an OB that I know briefly but may not be supportive. In my case, the place I was originally going to birth I probably wouldn’t have known whatever OB ended up working when I go into labor anyways.
