Is my test invalid?

I took a test first thing this morning (running late for work of course) and I have never used this cheap brand. So when I peed on it I waited a couple mins there was a pink line on the TEST line only faint but there but no control line. Thinking I messed the test up like the dummy I am, I tossed it. This evening I went to shower and seen a bright pink line, so I took it out of the trash and found this, the test line was still just a faint but now a control line. Did I not wait long enough? Or is the test invalid?
