Membrane sweep? Yes or no?

Question

If you have gotten a membrane sweep before what was your experience with it? 
I might ask my doctor for one tomorrow but I’ve never had one done before so just want to know what to expect.
I’ll be 38 weeks 5 days tomorrow. Last appointment was on 2/15 and I was 3cm dilated and 90% effaced.

It hurt a lot but I immediately started cramping and having contractions for the next 48 hours until my water broke so maybe it worked?

Always had a sweep ( except with my first) although none of them have worked for me. I guess the only good thing they do for me is make me lose my plug with hours of irregular contractions that eventually stall.

last pregnancy, it's hella uncomfortable a bit painful and will only work if your body is ready. sounds like you're almost there. basically it will jumpstart contractions for labor. I did it one day before my due date and the next day delivered. my main reasoning was to avoid induction and c section. this pregnancy am waiting closer to my due date as well
