I’m terrified of having a baby

Hello!

So for a bit of context my partner and I are 27&28 this year, we own a home and we both have jobs (im part time)

We’ve been together 10 years this year and have always spoken about having a baby but have never really been serious about it because we knew the time wasn’t right, no jobs, lived with parents etc.

Well now physically the time is as right as it can be really in terms of stability. But how do I know I’m ready mentally, the thought of pregnancy and birth terrifies me but I assume that’s the case with many and doesn’t necessarily mean you aren’t ready.

Will I always be terrified and I just have to accept that I have to just go for it and deal with it as it comes or will it get less scary the more mature I get?

If you were terrified of pregnancy and birth before having your baby how did you handle it and how did it end up going for you? Or has the fear stopped you from trying for a baby?
