Recipe for disaster?

So, my husband serves in the military and we recently moved to our new duty station. We have a 2 month old son. My husband is getting deployed next month and will be gone for about 9 months. My mother in law suggested that her niece (my husband’s cousin) stay with us while my husband is gone. I’m not very close with my in laws and I have never met my husband’s cousin before. Is this a recipe for disaster or a good idea?

Why is she suggesting that? I feel like you’re leaving out a lot of information.

I would never let someone I didn’t completely trust live with my kids and me. There’s too much abuse that goes around for me to invite a stranger, even if family to my home to live.

Why would I have someone stay I haven't ever met before? No thank you. But it would be lovely to meet her.

Seems odd to me. Does the neice just need a place to live and they are spinning the story so it helps you?

I wouldn’t personally let anyone stay with me that I am not close to. It just wouldn’t make me feel comfortable, if you knew them better than sure maybe. But, since you don’t I don’t think it’s a good idea. It would probably feel like you’re taking care of someone else while being a single parent. That sounds really stressful.

I wouldn't let someone I've never met come stay with me or someone in general I wasn't close with. That sounds super uncomfortable

What is the reason she wants her to stay with you?
Is there a question of infidelity? Or substance abuse? Or with you being unable to keep up with work and the house and kids (which is understandable)? 
Why specifically (t)his niece?
And if you're married, why haven't you met his niece yet?
I think it's very tricky to allow someone to live in your house that you've never met.
But it would also be nice to become closer to your husband's family, but I still think living together with them, especially from the get-go is a very bad idea.
