Sneak Peek resulted, but NIPT inconclusive???

Question

At 8 weeks, I had the Sneak Peek snap test and it resulted as girl. My ob offered the NIPT at 12 weeks & the office called today saying the results were inconclusive and that there was a low fetal fraction and they scheduled me for a redraw.
My question is…how did Sneak Peek have enough fetal DNA to say girl at 8 weeks with a tiny vial of blood, but the MD office who took a huge vial of blood at 12 weeks result is inconclusive?? Should I assume that the Sneak Peek girl result might be wrong now???

I would definitely be weary of the sneak peek result now. That’s how false girl results happen from my understanding.

My understanding with Sneak Peak is that they DON’T need to confirm enough fetal DNA. (since it’s not really a clinical/medical test, it’s for fun), they only confirm if there’s a Y chromosome. If your NIPS is inconclusive, there likely wasn’t enough fetal DNA in your blood for the Sneak Peak either. That means that even if your baby is a boy, there wouldn’t have been enough Y chromosome to detect it. I think you’re back to square one with a 50/50 chance Sneak Peak is right. 😕
