Hospital policy - no VBACs allowed ?

Question

Went in for my 12 week appointment today and was told I can’t have a vbac at the hospital my doctor is at. If it were you - would you change doctors or resign to having another c section?
I was really hoping for an in medicated vbac. 
With my first I was induced at 40w3d after my main doctor went out on maternity leave and the other guy was the only one. I don’t think it was truly needed but likely made his schedule easier which is why he was pushy with it. I am healthy and had no complications - I had just failed to progress after being induced and stuck at 8cm for 15 hours and my water had been broken for almost 24 hours at that point so did the c section to avoid possible distress for baby. 
Also - has anyone had a VBAC? I feel like nowadays this is much more common and isn’t as high risk as once believed.

I went through the exact same thing! I went in for an induction at 39 weeks because I let them convince me my baby was super big (he wasn’t). After a day & a half, they said “he’s probably stuck, you can go another 12 hours & we’re going to have to do a c-section unless you decide to do it now.” We did it because I was honestly scared, but after some research when I left the hospital, it’s likely my body just wasn’t ready yet. Either way, I told them I want an unmedicated VBAC & they said “we’ll re-evaluate when you’re 32 weeks, but you should probably just get another c-section so there are no risks.” I asked what the risks were & my midwife said that the original scar can tear from straining, which I haven’t heard of , but obviously has happened to someone at some point. I however am looking into a different facility & suggest you do that same. It is unfair to have such a serious surgery suggested when there are currently no problems, ESPECIALLY after there were no real problems the first time. Good luck💓

If it’s important for you to try natural birth I say you should find a new doctor! My first c section was done pretty much for the same reasons as yours. With my second I attempted a VBAC and my body dilated to 10cm all on its own and I was able to push and did so for over an hour but my sons head got stuck and my heart rate started to skyrocket so I had another emergency c section. Turns out I have an extremely tilted pelvis that’s very narrow and why I couldn’t deliver naturally. Even though my VBAC wasn’t successful I am so happy that I went for it and still labored to 10cm on my own and got to experience pushing. I also would do anything to avoid the recovery of another c section. Good luck with whatever you decide!

If you feel comfortable with it, i might would look up midwives in your area instead. They have options like birth centers or home birth and most midwives are very vbac friendly. Also cost effective for my family (no insurance) so we have paid $4500 for each of our births. If a dr doesn't do it, it is likely that their insurance doesn't cover it and they dont want the liability.

I would change my doctor, it’s not something outrageous you’re wanting and should be able to at least attempt
