Am I wrong?

My boyfriend and I got a blue nose pit. He’s 14 or 15 weeks. He believes that we should put the puppy in his crate everytime he sleeps. Problem is, he sleeps the majority of the day. He plays for about an hour when he wakes up then sleeps for hours, wakes up, goes out, and then goes right back to sleep. This goes on all day unless it’s time to eat which will cause him to stay up longer. I have no problem with putting him in his crate when he’s tired but I don’t like that now he’s pretty much in his crate all day long unless he’s going outside or eating
