What is right?

You go visit family in another state with your partner.

Your cousin invites you to stay in her house 2 nights for free.

You get there and they tell you they want to barbecue and invite 3 other more people.

Your cousin's partner (O) takes your partner to buy the meat and stuff for the barbecue.

The bill come to $175 and O keeps on talking to the other guy pretending not to hear so your partner pays for the bill.

I totally get we would've spent way more by staying in a hotel so paying for that grocery trip was less than staying somewhere else but as someone who hosts often I think it's kind of tacky to do something like that.

Please don't come for me, I really am curious. We invited them as well, but when they come I plan to have them stay for free as they did for us but I will also make sure to have a stocked fridge so they don't have to bother with anything other than just visiting.

The reason the bill was so much is because O got alcohol and beers.
