Do Cheaters Deserve Love Too?

Question

Everytime I come on here I see at least 1 post (often more) about someone getting cheated on by their partner. This made me think about the question of do cheaters deserve to find and be loved (romantically) after they cheat? This being either by the partner after forgiving them or someone else after the cheating occurs and they get dumped. In my opinion, once a cheater always a cheater and if they cannot give their partner the respect, loyalty, and faithfulness they deserve then they should not get that in return. I personally think there is NEVER an excuse to cheat and once someone does they do not deserve to ever find true love. I want to hear others' view points and opinions about it to see if others feel the same and as strongly as I do or if you feel differently and why. I feel strongly about the matter because the cheater has essentially ruined the person they cheated on's love life forever and tainted how they feel about love. I cannot fathom why someone chooses to do that to another person. It has almost become the normal and that is not okay.

Everyone deserves love. 
We are human, we make mistakes.. I think the wrong is when people don’t learn from their mistakes. I don’t think anyone deserves to be banned from love forever - even though I do believe cheating is wrong. I’m a big advocate for believing people have the capacity to change, after all that is the only constant in life. The unfortunate part is you have to want to change before you can, and a lot of people get stuck in their own toxic cycles they can’t break free from. Also, I do think cheating is way too normalized, but a lot of negative human behaviors are normalized in this day & age we live in. You can’t hold someone else responsible for “ruining” someone else’s perception of love. We all get hurt and we all hurt others (intentionally or not) it is our responsibility to heal & learn from the pain we receive from others. I have been cheated on myself & I forgive. I do not wish any ill on that person, I hope they do find love eventually & learn from their old ways. It’s honestly sad to me. Human behavior always stems from something else, it’s deeper than just being selfish even if that’s how it appears on the surface. In a way I feel pity for people who cheat because at the end of the day they are cheating themselves out of love. But everyone is capable of doing better and being better and realizing when they were wrong. That’s why we make mistakes, to learn from them.. and if we don’t then we continue to suffer from them. Those people are already suffering & they are doing it to themselves.

As the one that got cheated on if things ended, you hope the worst for them out of anger and spite. So it’s understandable that you feel they don’t deserve happiness or a relationship with someone else. If things can end somewhat amicably, especially if you have kids together where it not just cut and move on, where you still have to deal with them because  if the kids it’s a different situation. Unfortunately you  have no control over whether or not they are faithful to another or stay married to someone else or if they cheat on them as well. Free will. Their desire to be faithful and committed and choosing to be daily. Whether you are friends or Co parent or wish they went to hell, eventually you have to come to a place that you have to let things go and move on otherwise you sabotage your own happiness and future relationships blaming the new for what the last did. That’s why it is important to take the time to heal before you move on. Letting go of the anger. Sometimes karma is a bitch and it bites them in the ass. You think we’ll they had it coming. But you move on regardless. Eventually in life people find others whether it’s goes well or night. And you have to move on too

I was a chronic cheater. I had ISSUES and work(ed) on them in therapy. I've found my love and have a very stable and overall happy life now. I'm not saying anything about cheaters that keep that habit or trade it for other destructive behaviors. I feel that some people that cheat do it once and never again, some find it as the only way out of a relationship, some get help for it and never do it again. Not all cheaters should be condemned to a life with no love or true connection. I get the sentiment but it's doing no one any good though. You're better off using the energy to make these posts or these thoughts and figuring out the deep hatred you have towards cheaters and heal yourself. Cheaters aren't going to be aware of this post, they don't care anyways, all you're doing is feeding something that shouldn't be growing inside of you. Find your peace.

Everyone deserves love. Yes, it sucks to get hurt, but how much power you give it to destroy your love life forever is totally up to you. Personally, I would never give anyone that much power over me. I will never allow anyone to take away my ability to trust and love. ￼So therefore, I wish them well. I hope they find a love that makes them not such an asshole anymore. ￼

Depends on the situation. I was 14 with my first bf we dated until I was 18. However the last two years were awful. His parents were going through a divorce and he was put on crazy strong antidepressants. He was nothing like the guy I met and he was bringing me down. I know that sounds selfish but I was a child. I repeatedly tried to break up with him and he would threaten to kill himself . Eventually in 12th grade I met someone who made me happy I told my boyfriend I went on a date with this guy and kissed him . It was finally the catalyst to get him to leave me . Without me having to worry about being the cause of him hurting himself. So yeah I cheated on a partner. Was it nice no. But we were kids, not engaged not married and I wanted to break up . Not everything is so black and white like you make it out to be .

Not if they don't learn from it. Because then they're just jeapordizing the mental and physical health of people they "claim" to love and it becomes like a  hobby at no cost to them. Nobody should get away with that so easily, but if said person puts in the work to change and be a better human, than yes, at that point they should also get back the love they give. Love is not a feeling it's an action. They have to give what they get.

Yes, people make mistakes. Once a cheater does not mean they will always be a cheater. Sometimes people get into monogamous relationships, and cheat. This keeps happening and then they realize they actually want polyamory. Shit happens, life goes on. People deserve to be loved. It also takes time for people to know how to give it and receive it. We all learn and continue to evolve.
