do u rather lease or buy a car?

i went to get an oil change for my honda and i looked at a new honda and fell in love.. i have done 2 trade ins and the salesperson told me that since i trade a lot i rather lease cars.. but it would be my first time leasing so idk what to expect.. any help with that?

Leasing a car is a massive waste of money. You might as well set that money on fire. You need to keep the car IMMACULATE otherwise your payments go up. If you drive a lot of miles the rental place will NOT be happy. We've only ever bought used vehicles for cash. We will never buy a brand new vehicle.

It depends. For some leasing is a great option and it’s a way for them to drive newer vehicles, for others it makes absolutely no sense. Take my husband for example. He would love to lease a newer truck, but he works in a quarry where it would get beat to hell so he’d have to buy a little beat up thing for work purposes, we drive a lot so he would have trouble keeping the mileage under control, we have small children so we can’t guarantee the vehicle would stay in perfect condition, and the quotes he’s had for a lease are RIDICULOUS. I’m talking like $1000+/month. On the other hand, my grandfather leased because he didn’t drive a lot, he could keep the car clean enough to eat off of, and the payment wasn’t ridiculously expensive.

Buy because you can pay off your car and have no payment. Leasing you will continuously have a car payment and you have certain amount of mileage you can drive. Some people like leasing some people like buying.

But I would personally buy and use the car until I needed a new one for another reason. Leasing is often a hell lot more expensive.

It depends on how much you drive and ho one you plan it keep it. If you drive a lot then the mileage fees on a lease could ends up costing you a lot. If you trade in every year or two and don’t drive a bunch then a lease might make more sense. The down side of leasing is you always have a car payment, at no point do you own your vehicle.

It really depends on how many miles you put on a car each year, how long you want to have a car payment, and if you are into a new car every few years.  At the end of the lease you have to pay for the overage if you went over the miles in the contract.  If you decide to purchase the car at the end you still have 3-5 years of car payments since nothing you paid over the years of the lease actually go toward owning the car.  If you continue to lease you continually have a car payment.  Leasing terms and rates aren’t great right now.  The only people I know who leasing has been beneficial for have been people who are self employed or own their own business because they can write car expanses off as business expenses.

Buy we drive A Lot of miles per year and that car has to be immaculate and exactly how you got it or they charge more. With car accidents on the rise. We just got rear ended in April. I would not lease.

I prefer to buy, but my dad always leases because he likes getting new cars and new models. I’m not a car person and I don’t really care what I drive as long as it has decent safety features and I feel comfortable driving it.
