What are the benefits of having a doula and should I consider having one?

Hey amazing mamas! I've been thinking about having a doula for my birth, but I'm not sure if it's the right choice for me. Can any of you share your experiences with doulas or provide insights into their benefits? Let's have an open and honest conversation!

Answer

Doulas are there to educate you and advocate for you. They also help out with pain management and some times recovery. They can be a great help in making sure you get the birth you want. I however did a lot of research before hand and made sure my husband knew everything I wanted. He was basically my doula. Although an actual doula would have been better. After my first I had him and an amazing midwife that was helpful. Either way have someone that knows what you want and will voice that because your brain goes out the window when you're in labor.
