Before anyone goes into the nursing field(mainly hospital/ER) think first

I'm an ER nurse. A few weeks ago there was a girl who had been waiting for 3 hours and she was having issues breathing. A teenage boy who's face was swollen to the size of of a basketball who has been waiting 6 hours. A little boy who was throwing up blood who has been waiting 4 hours. Guess who I had to help before all those kids? A child sex trafficker who had been shot by the FBI. I am burnt out and have put in my 2 weeks notice. I have a new job in a doctor's office. I'm not trying to say people shouldn't work in hospitals or the ER but you really have to just shut off your emotions sometimes. I can't help a little girl who can't breath. A boy who is swollen. A boy is vomiting blood, because I have to help a sick fuck who is here because he was shot running a child sex trafficking ring.
