Debating announcing pregnancy

Kelsey

I’m currently 20 weeks and have not announced my pregnancy online at all. Immediate family members and my closest friends were all told around 8-12 weeks depending on when I saw them in person. And anyone who happens to see me in person knows because I’m definitely showing and there’s no hiding it lol. I’m very conflicted about the idea of posting it online/social media, though, for a verity of reasons (some more personal than others). Still, I’m very conflicted and I’m leaning toward not sharing anything at all online until after baby is born (and even then, I may only do an old-school snail mail birth announcement and leave it at that, still undecided).

ANYWAY the point of my question is basically, how did people in like the 80s and 90s let people know they were expecting if they didn’t happen to run into them in the grocery store lol? Was that even a thing? Will people be confused or insulted if they get an invitation to a baby shower but haven’t seen anything online about the pregnancy first?
