Was I wrong?

I'm a para at a high school and school is finally back in session. I'm with the kids that need a little bit more support. There was a boy who has a lot of anxiety and I suppose he needed to use the restroom and was scared to ask so before he has an accident he pulls his thing out and pees in the corner. I go over there and ask him to please put it away and to please just tell one of us when he needs to use the restroom. Thursdays some parents found out about the incident and accused me of being a pervert and why was I looking at their son there anyway. I said he pulled out and was peeing in the corner. They told me I should know about his autism since I work with special ed. I said I know that's why I wasn't angry with him. Just told him to put it away and he can ask if he needs to go to the bathroom and he doesn't have to be embarrassed. They think I shouldn't have drawn any attention to it and should have just let him pee in the corner and clean it up when he wasn't looking. The special ed teacher thinks I should have gotten a male teacher to handle it to avoid backlash from the parents. Was I really in the wrong?
