Would you MAKE your children hug their grandparents even if they didn’t want to/feel comfortable? Please explain why or why not, I know everyone feels differently about this and my boyfriend and I even disagree with each other so I sam just curious to know if I am the only one who wouldn’t make my child hug anyone they didn’t want to, even grandparents.

I don't. If they don't want to hug/kiss anyone, they don't have to. And I don't stand for that "well I guess you just don't love me then" bullshit either. Just like if anyone is playing with them or tickling them or joking around with them and they ask them to stop, you stop. Plain and simple. You don't keep doing it or say "oh come on, I'm just joking with you" no. You've been asked to stop and I expect you to respect that. They may be children but they are still humans. They are allowed to say no. They are allowed to say I don't want to. They are allowed to say please don't joke with me like that. Please don't tickle me. They have a voice.

No. I also don't make my kods see their grandparents if they don't want to. If my kids are uncomfortable with something then it stops immediately. Something my mother did growing up was if I told her that one of her friends gave me a weird vibe or made me scared she never saw them again. I remember going to her sobbing as a teen telling her that my step-dad's friend made me all sorts of terrified even though he had never done anything. My parents cut all contact with him. It's something I'm doing with my kids as well. If there is anything that my kids are uncomfortable with or they don't want then it doesn't happen. Consent starts early and my kids having the confidence and strength to firmly tell anyone no is important to me.

No. I want my kids to understand boundaries and I also think it’s about time the older generation learns something about them as well. My kids don’t have to hug anyone or kiss anyone that don’t want to.
