How many Ultrasounds did you Get??

I’m currently 31 weeks and my doctor just informed me that my 20 week ultrasound was my last one unless it is medical necessary.
I’m really irritated because without the ultrasound how will I know how much my baby weighs? Did anyone else experience this?

Yes, this is standard. One ultrasound around 12w (dating scan) and one around 20w (anatomy scan).
Ultrasounds are terrible ways to measure baby’s size later on. Some providers do a growth scan around 36w but these are notoriously inaccurate.
And why do you need to know how much your baby weighs anyway? Unless they are extremely small or extremely large (which your doctor would be able to gauge by palpating your abdomen) or if you have risk factors indicating IUGR or GD, you really don’t need to know baby’s weight before birth because it won’t change how they’ll need to be delivered.

I had about 15 throughout my last pregnancy. Ultrasound weights can be very off. If youre having a low risk pregnancy theres no reason for an uktrasound after 20 weeks.

It’s normal to only have two in a healthy pregnancy. With both of my kids I only ever had 2. One around 10weeks to confirm everything was in the right place and looking good and then the 2nd at 20 weeks. There are plenty of private ultrasound places that will do them if you really feel the need to have one done. They’re usually cheaper than having them done at the doctors office too. 🤷🏼‍♀️

We get two here. Around 12 and 20 weeks. Nothing else unless you pay or its found necessary for medical reasons. Its completely normal. They poke your stomach to get an estimate of babys size.

I only got two, dating scan and anatomy scan, they measure your stomach, US are often wrong on weight anyways

Thats usually normal. Im 32 wks and Ive had 3 more since my 19wk scan. 2 were because they couldn't see some of the bones properly and the last one was because I had some bleeding at 30wks. You can always request one later or do a private scan.

I’m 10w5d and I’ve had 8 ultrasounds. Hopefully nothing else goes wrong, but I’m planning to get another one at 12w (NT ultrasound), 20w (anatomy) and 32w (growth scan because I’m high risk)
