Help!.1st trimester bleeding

Hi. I am having a bit of a problem and need opinions. I am about 9 weeks pregnant (just estimating) with baby number 3. I'm supposed to go to the doctor on 9/15 to have them sign a proof of pregnancy form so I can get on medicaid due to being low income. I just found out I'm pregnant but can't get in until the 15th because they are super booked and I can only go on my days off. Well anyways things have been fine but now I am having bleeding after having sex. I had sex once with my husband over the weekend and have been having light bleeding ever since then. It is bright red blood and it's light to mild but definitely more than spotting. I am also having small woerd pains here and there in the lower abdomen area where the baby should be. It's not like severe or anything just mild pain randomly on and off all day. Less painful than period cramps. I tried digging into it using Google to see if it is worth a trip to the ER but I've been trying to work on my credit and don't have insurance at the moment so I'm reluctant to go. And the info I'm finding online is conflicting. Some sites say it's normal and only to worry if bleeding is heavy but others say go to the Dr immediately. I just need opinions on what I should do. And what exactly is considered heavy bleeding vs mild bleeding? I'm a little anxious but like I said I'd hate to go to the hospital if it isn't something to worry about. I never went through anything like this with my first two babies. I appreciate any advice you can give.

(Also I'm 26 if that makes a difference)
