Is the father suggesting formula due to breastfeeding issues overstepping?
I don’t know how many people watch YouTubers Matt and Abby, but they just recently had their second child. Abby breastfed their first baby. They posted a video of the first 48 hours in the hospital with their newborn (she had a cesarean) and they also have a podcast. Their newborn was refusing to latch for the most part and her milk was obviously not in yet. In the YouTube video there are several clips of the baby wailing while in Matt’s arms and he is practically begging Abby to let him give the baby formula because he was hungry. She refused. In the podcast she called his actions a “betrayal.” I didn’t see these actions myself but comments from others stated that she actually kicked him out of the room at one point and when he couldn’t take it anymore he made the baby a formula bottle which she took out of his hand and threw across the room. Comments are mainly pro-Abby and calling Matt a selfish asshole.
Obviously none of us were there to actually see all of what happened but I’m definitely not with the majority. If my baby is screaming out of hunger and not latching, I’m setting my desire to breastfeed aside for the time being so my newborn is FED. Newborns have tiny stomachs but if they aren’t even latching they aren’t getting anything. A father desperate to get his child fed is not an asshole, he is not selfish. Based off what I’ve seen from their other videos, Matt is anything but selfish. Quite frankly Abby comes off as very full of herself and gives him a hard ass time.
