Should I re-gift gift cards?

My kids' school has this thing called RaiseRight where every family has to buy gift cards from this website and attempt to reach a particular financial goal (the school gets a portion of the money from each purchase). I almost always purchased the paper version of the gift cards since I often gift them to others. And well, I just checked all of my previous purchases and quite a bit of the gift cards I have purchased have no been used. I have no way of knowing who I gave these gift cards to but pretty soon they will all be over 1 year old. My question is...can I print them out again and either gift them to other people or use them myself. Or do I just let the money go to waste and hope the people I gave them to didn’t lose the paper gift card and will eventually use them?

So what happens when the recipient finally goes to use it? It won’t have any money on it and they’ll be embarrassed? It was a gift you gave. Do you go around making sure people are using the other gifts you give? Watch out I’m gonna take back that bath bomb you haven’t used in a year!

Sometimes I take a long time to use a gift card, it's been over a year at times. Life gets busy.

I wouldn’t take it back but I would be pissed my money is just going to waste I wouldn’t give them anything anymore

What difference does it make to you if someone actually uses the gift card or not? You gave it away and it is no longer yours to use. Even if someone was to order something it still won't go to you. So no, no regifting gift cards.

In most cases when you give someone a gift card you can’t track it to see if they used it or not. A lot of people take a long time to spend gift card money. You gifted it, it’s theirs now.. let it be. Act like it’s a normal gift card that you can’t track. Money was not gone to waste if it was to help the school reach a financial goal. & most cases when you gift someone anything you have no way of knowing if they are actually using it or not, no matter what the gift is.

I have a LOT of gift cards that are well over a year old. Some are nearly 5 years old. Not because I don’t appreciate it or want to use it, but they’re for places I rarely visit and would have to make a special trip to. I have regifted some of them that were given to me, but that’s different than the scenario you’re describing.
