Can drinking alcohol make you violent?

I’ve never been drunk but been around drunk people. I have never seen anyone violent. Kinda concerned for my bf.

He gets violent. So this is the 3rd time that he’s gotten like this. First time was a year ago, we went to a bar and came across a girl who used to bully me in high school. My bf had been drinking so he was already kinda buzzed. I told him “oh look it’s (insert name)” I was not planning to start shit with her. It’s been 8 years since I graduated and over that!! I was just surprised how we bumped into her. My bf gets super red and starts cursing. He’s so mad his eyes look like they’re about to pop OUT. I told his cousin to escort him out because I was genuinely scared he was going to start something. They do and he punches a truck. They carry him into the car and took him home. I went home with my cousins. That night I found out his uncle was throwing water with a water hose and he was screaming uncontrollably. He was getting crazy so his uncle was spraying water with the hose. He started cursing at his uncle and was punching the wall and wanted to punch his uncle too. That night he texted me he was going to kill himself.

Second time he drank at home and he wanted to beat up his dad over an argument. Long story short, his mom called the cops. My bf at that time FaceTimed me and all I could see was him hiding behind the bushes. I was like wtf is going on. He told me the cops had come to the house.

Now this time was on thanksgiving. I spent it with my family so I wasn’t with him. My bf got drunk. I randomly get a text by him where he says “I want to fuck up a guy” he told me he got him heated and was mad. I didn’t hear from him that night. He called me this morning apologizing for his behavior but said he was drunk and wanted to beat up a guy. He didn’t want to tell me what happened but he was triggered

Anyways I want to hear thoughts…. He gets super violent and idk if this is normal. He has erratic behavior
