On the 13th of January it is my mothers birthday.
On the 17th of January it is my mother in laws birthday.
On the 13th of January I have booked a spa day for my mum.
On the 20th of January it is my aunts surprise 70th and I have family travelling from different parts of the UK to be there, family I don’t see for years.
So, my MIL turns 60 in January and her birthday falls on a Wednesday. Ideally I would love my partner to come to the party with me on the 20th as I’m 25 weeks pregnant and certain family haven’t seen us since announcing our pregnancy and also I have family that haven’t met my partner yet. The venue of this party is over an hour away, therefore I also don’t want to be travelling over an hour home myself at 1/2am this heavily pregnant.
My MIL decided she didn’t want her birthday meal on the evening of her birthday as she’s up at 5am for work the following morning which I can totally appreciate. My partner suggested we do the Friday as she finishes at 1pm and doesn’t work weekends. That means I can go to her birthday meal and my partner can also come to my family party. But she said she didn’t want to do the Friday and wanted the Saturday.
My partner and I spoke and suggested why don’t we go for dinner around 5pm on the Saturday, have dinner, drop her off home, then we go to the party. But she’s insisting that’s way to early for dinner and in her words “I’ll just need to go to the party without him”.
We have tried every possible suggestion to do both but she’s not compromising. Am I being selfish for being annoyed about this that she can’t have dinner 1 hour earlier and that means her son can come with his pregnant girlfriend to a party? But it also means I can go to the meal too as I don’t want to miss out on that.
The reason I mentioned the 13th is Incase anyone suggested we do the 13th.
