Am I overreacting ??

My in-laws are here and staying with us for 3 weeks from out of state… we have for everything , every meal out (which has been heaps), groceries and even the alcohol consumed… I just feel taken advantage of but don’t want to say anything to
Husband and upset him as he doesn’t seem bothered.. is this normal when hosting people ?

I’d be annoyed too if it was for 3 weeks. We spend weekends with my in laws and I always try to back and forth on meals/food so it’s more even. I feel like a few days wouldn’t bother me but 3 weeks of groceries and eating out with drinks is a lot to expect your kid to pay for.

3 weeks is so long that I think even the sight of them breathing would drive me nuts. I don’t know the background or financial situation of either of your families so it’s hard to say what is normal here. But I know my in laws would bring at least enough groceries for themselves and probably more for us, and paid for at least half of the meals out.

Well did you guys know and allow them to come and stay for three weeks? If so, you can’t blame them for staying that long or feel taken advantage of. If they just randomly popped up and stayed, I could see that. As for the groceries, I personally wouldn’t expect my guests to pay for that or cook for me. That’s part of being a host. Sure, it’d be nice, but I wouldn’t expect it.

I think that’s pretty normal. When we stay with my in laws (usually only a week) they want to pay for everything. My husband sneaks and pays for meals when we eat out-
But they buy all the groceries and cook all the meals at their home.

I don’t like house guests for more than a night or two so I would be annoyed from the start. My Inlaws come every 6 weeks and stay with us. We always kind of without saying split things. My husband and his dad try to beat the other to pay first
