Help starting birth control

I just got a perscription for birth control today my period was dec 28-31. When do i start taking it? On-line said combination pills can be taken anytime during the cycle just use protection for the first 7 days. Another said to only take it the first Sunday after the start of your period. What should i do my doctors office is closed
