My sister and I live together, she moved in with me when she was in high school but she’s 21 now. We got into a huge fight today and she called my daughter(14 months) an inconvenience because she can’t walk throughout the house smoking a blunt, and bc she cries to wake up at 7:30AM. She has a dog that will bark or cry at anything no matter the time of day and I compared and my sister said it’s not the same. I feel some type of way that she said that about my daughter but should I? What’s your thoughts

She doesn’t respect you nor your daughter. Honestly I would tell her that the door is open and she is free to leave if she doesn’t like your rules while she lives under your roof. She is an adult. She is old enough to know how to act.

Honestly, she’s 21. What were you like at 21? Clearly there’s a big difference in the stages of lives y’all are in. It’s not worth ruining a family over. You need to be rational and realize she’s 21. When she’s older you both will look back and laugh at how ridiculous it is. Until then I’d probably help her get on her own feet and get a place with someone who lives a similar lifestyle to hers for the sake of everyone’s sanity in the household. The best thing and moral thing would be to find resources and make a plan for her to move and have her independence and yours as well. 🤍

You need to cut the umbilical cord that you create with your sister. Time kick her out make her become an adult take care of herself. SHe wants to smoke Have her dog then she needs to get her own place. Otherwise she needed respect your home smoke outside. You are not her mother. You have your own child to worry about. You also have to worry about depending on what state you live in where they could possibly randomly check to make sure if your child's been around any substance.

It might be time for your sister to look for her own place. That might be hard on you if she helps pay bills. However she young and has no children of her own and sometimes it's hard to see things as a parent when you aren't one. She sounds like she's still looking to explore life and not settle down. You sound settled and a parent. It can be hard for the two sides to agree and if there can be no civil compromise it might be time to change things to preserve your bond as sisters.

That's rough. I can barely handle my sister for a week and she's 27 and behaves that way. If she's not paying rent and isn't in the lease, I'd tell her to go find another place to live then. I flipped on my sister while she was staying with us to "help with the baby". I ended up with 3 kids instead of 2. If you don't put your foot down, you're going to get used.
