The drama in 6th grade is insane

I was homeschooled up until high school and I thought all the drama was in high school. I thought middle schoolers were still into cartoons and having play dates. I teach 6th grade social studies and one of my boys comes up to me and says "Ms. Calhoun do I have to work today. I don't wanna." I said "Yes. You have to work today. Is something going on." This little boy says "Man my girlfriend is tripping. One of her friends told her I was talking flirting with Kelsey and I wasn't. We was just eating lunch and talking. Sbe tripping." I said "Okay first off you're 12. Second of all you got a 33 in my class is that's what you're worried about?" He says "Man but Ms. Calhoun, why girls be tripping. You'll all crazy." I said "Boy if you dont go sit down."😂. He's my little class clown but having a little trouble on paradise. This kids are 11 and 12. I genuinely thought middle school was still toys and cartoons but they are already having dating drama.
