Why is he delaying getting tested?

I recently got an std and I contacted my ex who I may have gotten it from and he said he is probably getting tested next week and he will let me know when he’s getting tested. I told everyone I’ve been with to get tested and they are getting tested right away. Why is my ex delaying it? Is that suspicious to you? Does that mean he’s hiding something? What happens if he never ends up getting tested?
