Post BC pill

Amanda • 🇬🇷🇮🇹

Hey ladies! Just wanted to share my experience after getting off my birth control pill (Loryna) in case you are getting on BC, thinking about getting on/off or about to get off.

I was on the pill for about 9-10 years and had to abruptly stop taking it in November 2023 after my blood work came back and my doctor was concerned with my liver numbers.

While on the pill, my periods would skip every 3-6 months and when I did get them, they were light, painless and lasted about 3-4 days. My skin was pretty clear with an occasional breakout here and there. No issues with weight gain or loss.

However, starting in February 2023, I noticed hair thinning, major anxiety and mental health issues such as mood swings, easily overwhelmed, no motivation, etc. Also, had high numbers on my blood clot test, which I knew was a possibility since I’m a flight attendant and fly so often.

Now, after the pill…

Around December 2023, my skin broke out terribly and still does. I expected this to happen, though. I get crazy white heads and break out all over my forehead, cheeks/jaw, lip area. It puts a damper on my confidence but it’s okay. I’m giving myself grace. My hair feels thicker and doesn’t shed as much. I have more energy than ever and feel like a whole weight has been lifted off my shoulders. My anxiety seems to be non existent? I feel 100x better. No change in weight. My period comes every month since December. VERY heavy and crampy and lasts about 5-7 days.

Have you had any issues stopping your BC? Love to hear everyone’s experience!
