What would rule out an ectopic?

In very early pregnancy (4 weeks before first scan!!) how can I rule out knowing that I don’t have an ectopic? Would hcg level grow nicely still? Would I be in pain? It’s just such a long wait not knowing.

Unfortunately, the best thing to do is wait. I know some people go for non medical scans, privately, but there may not be anything to see this early and could be discouraging or a waste of resources.
